REASONS TO CONTROL BIRDS
In the UK bird control is undertaken to protect public health and safety and to prevent damage to property and agriculture. But we also have a responsibility to aid conservation in line with the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981, General Licenses.
Public Health and Hygiene: Birds droppings and their nests carry bacteria and parasites, creating risks of diseases. Their droppings are also highly acidic which corrode buildings.
Safety Hazards: Gulls and other birds can act aggressively, especially during breeding season. This poses a risk to the general public. They also pose risks to aviation which requires control around airfields.
Economic/ Agricultural Damage: Birds can destroy crops, consume the food meant for livestock and contaminate products with parasites and disease.
Property Damage: Nesting materials can block gutters, drains, chimneys and vents which can lead to water damage and carbon monoxide risks.
Our job at Veto Pest is to ensure we carry out whatever control necessary, in accordance with legislation and ensuring we use the most humane methods possible.
